Lando Norris screamed with joy as the McLaren driver picked up the first podium of his fledgling Formula One career.

The 20-year-old could be heard screaming and shouting expletives into the radio after a brilliant performance at the Austrian Grand Prix.

The Guilford star, who holds dual British and Belgian nationality, put in the ride of his life in Spielberg finishing third behind Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

F1 2020, British Grand Prix: Daniel Ricciardo has messy Renault race, 70th Anniversary GP at Silverstone

Daniel Ricciardo fancied his chances of a first podium at Renault on Sunday, but now, he doesn’t know what he was thinking.

The 70th Anniversary Grand Prix was a disaster for the Australian, who came fourth at the same track the week before, was third-fastest in Friday practice and then qualified a season-best fifth on Saturday.

All signs therefore pointed towards Ricciardo being competitive on Sunday, but he wasn’t, as he suffered his worst race result since retiring from the season-opener in Austria.

The bromance between Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris continues to flourish after the McLaren driver crashed the Australian’s interview before the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix on Sunday.

Hilarity ensued as the two playfully traded barbs and provided an insight of what’s to come in 2021 when the two partner up at McLaren.

Ricciardo was in high spirits for the interview with Sky Sports when Norris arrived and brought up the on-track battle the pair had the week before.

Just a week after his dramatic victory on three wheels, with a punctured fourth, at the British Grand Prix, Hamilton admitted he was afraid one of his tyres might explode.

Three cars had suffered tyre failures at Silverstone last weekend, but Pirelli pressed ahead with a decision to introduce softer tyres running at higher pressures than previously, much to the concern of many teams.
