Luke Garbutt has been able to see the funny side in an awkward moment when Carlo Ancelotti was unable to answer a question about the Everton defender because he didn’t know who he was.
The 27-year old spent 11 years at the club but the Everton boss clearly had no idea who Garbutt was as he fielded a question about the decision to release him.
In Ancelotti’s defence Garbutt has not played for the first time since 2015 and only played a total of 12 games, instead spending time on loan at Fulham, Wigan, Oxford and Ipswich.

But Ancelotti’s answer to the question about Garbutt’s release perfectly shows why he was let go in the first place.
“Who?,” a clearly confused Ancelotti said.
He then looked to those around him for answers before admitting: “I’m sorry, I was not expecting this question. I don’t know.”
Garbutt was able to see the light side of the awkward moment though, taking to social media to thank the club and laugh it off.
“Don’t get it twisted I chose to find the funny side other players would feel disrespected by the club and the manager,” he wrote on Twitter.
“It’s not his [Ancelotti’s] fault it’s the club’s however it’s a belter though.
“Today officially my contract at Everton has now expired after been at the club for 11 years!
“The club has been a huge part of my life, and one I had huge pride to represent. There’s been many ups and a few downs which I couldn’t control. Everton good luck for the future.”
