Brodie Kostecki has been given the all clear to drive again in the Bathurst 1000 this afternoon after a carbon dioxide poisoning scare.

The 21-year-old wildcard entry stopped his No.56 Commodore suddenly at Conrod Straight on the warm-up lap causing a delay to the start of the race.

He was quickly taken to the medical centre, while his car was towed back to the pitlane with a cool box failure.

Daniel Abt fined for cheating in virtual FormulaE race

Published

on

Racing driver Daniel Abt was disqualified from a virtual FormulaE race on Sunday after admitting getting a professional gamer to take his place at the console instead.

Abt was also ordered to make a “compulsory donation” of 10,000 euros ($AUD 17,000) to charity and stripped of his third place finish.

Pro esports gamer Lorenz Hoerzing, 18, had replaced Abt in the “sim” for the race around Berlin-Tempelhof.

The 27-year-old Abt raised suspicions because his video camera was switched off during an interview, and later the face of the driver was obscured by an object.

“I’d like to apologise to FormulaE, all the fans, my team and my driver colleagues for calling in outside help during Saturday’s race,” the German said in a statement on Sunday.

The outcome of round five of Formula E’s esports Race at Home Challenge was under a stewards’ inquiry on Sunday amid claims a “ringer” had taken the place of Audi Sport’s Daniel Abt and finished third.

Saturday’s 15-lap race around a virtual Berlin Tempelhof track was won by Britain’s Oliver Rowland for Nissan e.dams with Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne second for Mercedes.

“Really not happy here because that was not Daniel driving the car himself, and he messed up everything. Really ridiculous,” Vandoorne said on his Twitch stream after an incident during the race.
