A National Second Division has taken a step closer to becoming reality after a panel of experts were brought on board to finalise a timeline and structure for the new league.

A-League and NPL clubs will be asked for their input, as will players and state federations as the committee looks to create a second tier.

The league will look to bridge the gap between the NPL and the A-League and become a crucial step in player development.
