NHL, news: Dallas Stars CEO Jim Lites says Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn are “f***ing horse-s**t”, ice hockey

Published

Usually the worst thing a team CEO can say is that the coach has his full support.

But this NHL boss has delivered a simply stunning spray to his two best players, calling them “f***ing horse-s**t”.

The remarkable comment was part of a story on The Athletic and comes from Dallas Stars CEO Jim Lites.

His ice hockey side sits fourth in its seven-team division after 38 games of the regular season; a position he and team owner Tom Gaglardi are not happy with.

Lites told The Athletic that Gaglardi texts him “WTF” five times a game.

American Hockey League: Ice hockey fights have to stop ASAP | Opinion

Published

It was another fight, just another fight in the American Hockey League of which we would never have been aware if not for Twitter.

Or maybe we’d have become aware of the bout in Stockton, California, once it was plastered onto the home page of Hockeyfights.com as its “featured fight.”

Of course it was.

Because what says “featured fight” more than a one-on-one at centre ice in which one guy knocks the other one unconscious, as was the case last Saturday night when Stockton’s Colby Cave KO’d Bakersfield’s Martin Pospisil at 7:01 of the first period?

The scene was revolting. All of it, including the fans leaping to their feet and cheering wildly when the 19-year-old Pospisil crumpled to the ice.

You come at The King, you best not miss.

It’s a lesson teenager Andrei Svechnikov will never forget.

Ice hockey legend Alex Ovechkin used his fists to keep the dream of another Stanley Cup triumph alive as the Washington captain threw down with his younger rival, putting the rookie in his place when he dared to square up with the 33-year-old.

In a scary brawl featuring two unlikely foes in Ovechkin — the grizzly future Hall of Famer and Svechnikov, the Carolina Hurricanes’ 19-year-old wunderkind trying to follow in The Great 8’s footsteps — the elder Russian won in a knockout fashion that would leave even Mike Tyson speechless.

Seinfeld star David Puddy steals the show at NHL match

Published

There goes the Devils’ modest winning streak.

Bryan Rust scored a tiebreaking goal midway through the second period and the Penguins continued their playoff push and avoided the embarrassment of being swept by the lowly Devils with a 4-3 victory on Tuesday night at Prudential Center in Newark, despite the fact the character David Puddy of “Seinfeld” fame was in attendance.

“Puddy”, played by US actor Patrick Warburton, was made famous in an episode of the iconic sitcom where painted his face in Devils colours in an episode and shouted: “We’re the Devils.”

Over 20 years on, the joke hasn’t died down.

Warburton dropped the puck before the game in a ceremonial opening to the night, but the real moment that sent mouths running was the TV star’s slip-up on the ice as he exited the rink.
