Sunday Shootout wrap: Mark Bosnich on Socceroos v Norway result, Wanderers rally cry

BERT van Marwijk might have done something completely against what fans initially thought with his team selection against Norway, which explains the result according to Fox Sports football expert Mark Bosnich.

Bosnich, capped 17 times by Australia, said on Sunday Shootout that he thinks van Marwijk actually chose a weakened team as opposed to the players who impressed him the most during the four days of training leading up to his first game in charge.

“I thought about this, when I looked at the game again, we thought this was the XI that [van Marwijk] saw during the week that were the best for him. But was it the opposite?,” asked Bosnich after the 4-1 loss in Oslo to kick off the Dutchman’s reign as Socceroos boss.

“Was this Bert van Marwijk saying ‘I’ll sprinkle in a few starters but for the most part I’ll try things because the ones I’ve got on the bench, I’m satisfied with’. Later on when Rogic and Juric came on, they looked a lot better.”
