LIVERPOOL are preparing for life after Emre Can, eyeing up a big money midfielder as the German intensified speculation around a potential exit.
That and more in a Premier League Rumour Mill!
CAN WANTS MOVE TO ‘VERY BIG CLUB’
Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is looking increasingly likely to leave Anfield this summer, and now the player himself has intensified speculation around a move.
The German international told Suddeutsche Zeitung that he has “the self-confidence to say that my qualities are sufficient to play in a very big club next season.”
However, the midfielder is perhaps less likely to return to his home land, citing a decline in quality in the Bundesliga.
“Sure, the Bundesliga would interest me, why not?” Can said.
“Although I must say honestly that the level has waned in recent years. The Premier League has the power to spend more money on players than the Bundesliga. This is very, very important for players.
“I’m doing great in England. The Spanish league is also attractive. The same applies to Germany, where tactics are concerned, and the Italian club football, which has recently caught up.
“I do not want to exclude anything because I do not know what I will do from the summer.”
It is unclear where Can will play next season, with the 24-year-old’s sights firmly set on finishing this season strongly with Liverpool and being selected in Germany’s World Cup squad.
LIVERPOOL CONFIDENT OF BEATING UTD, ARSENAL TO JORGINHO
If Can does depart Merseyside, reports from The Mirror suggest the Reds will look to Napoli midfielder Jorginho as his replacement.
However, the report adds that Liverpool will need to compete with rivals Manchester United and Arsenal for the signature of the £50m(AUD$91m) rated Italian international.
The Merseysiders are reportedly favourite to sign the Brazilian born midfielder, with the attacking style of Jurgen Klopp’s men and their likely Champions League qualification a drawcard for the player.
WILSHERE’S TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT OFFER
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere may have to quit the club this summer, amid reports the club have issued him a take-it-or-leave-it contract offer.
According to The Mirror, the 26-year-old is keen to stay at The Emirates, however is becoming worried that the Gunners’ offer doesn’t reflect his level of commitment.
The club have asked the England international to take a £20,000(AUD$36,000) a week pay cut on his current £110,000(AUD$200,000) a week deal, for an incentive-heavy deal with bonuses linked to appearances and performance.
The deal comes after a horror run of injuries for the midfielder, who recently revealed that Arsene Wenger told him to find a new club last summer.
The report suggests Wilshere has already received offers from Everton as well as AC and Inter Milan, with a potential exit from the club he joined as a nine-year-old becoming more and more likely.
UTD CONSIDERING £50M MOVE FOR VARANE
Manchester United are plotting an audacious summer swoop for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, according to The Mirror.
The report suggests the Frenchman is on Jose Mourinho’s wish list, with the Special One keen to bolster his defence when the transfer window reopens.
The Portuguese manager signed Varane at Los Blancos and now appears keen on a reunion with the centre-back, who recently revealed he had contact with United over a potential transfer.
The 24-year-old signed a new contract last September, which was designed to keep him at the club until 2022, but Real are understood to be willing to sell for a fee in the region of £50m(AUD$91m) this summer.
