Manchester United news: ‘Took long enough’: Utd to end 13-year women’s absence

MANCHESTER United have submitted an application to join the second tier of the Women’s Super League, the Premier League club have confirmed.

United are currently the only top-flight club without a women’s team after scrapping their side in 2005.

The club have applied to the FA to form a professional women’s team in the WSL2, as they look to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea, who have dominated the women’s game in recent seasons.

Manchester City Premier League 2020 transfers, Ruben Dias vs Kalidou Koulibaly

Published

on

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will be crossing his fingers and his toes that Ruben Dias really is the right man to fix his leaky defence after his side conceded five goals to Leicester City — especially if he was just their second choice.

An embarrassing gaffe on Manchester City’s website suggests Guardiola’s first choice recruit at the back was Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

City was heavily linked with Koulibaly through much of the transfer window before recruiting Dias from Benfica for 68 million euros (£62 million, $A112m) plus an extra 3.6 million euros ($A6m) in potential bonuses, with Nicolas Otamendi heading in the opposite direction for 15 million euros ($A25m).
