Frank Lampard exploded into a fit of rage after defender Marcos Alonso tried to skip the rest of Chelsea’s match against West Brom having been substituted, according to reports.
The left back was taken off at halftime on Sunday having been badly exposed by West Brom who led 3-0 at The Hawthorns.
Multiple sources told The Athletic that Alonso then showered and tried to watch the remainder of the match from the team coach instead of returning to the stands with his team.

Alonso re-emerged 10-15 minutes into the second half, but in a different area to the group before he was savaged by boss Lampard after the match.
Insiders told The Athletic that Lampard was the angriest his players had ever seen him as he dressed the 29-year-old down in front of his teammates.
One source told the publication: “The players were saying they have never seen the manager like this. It kicked off after the game and he was going mad at Alonso.
“Some were talking about how they’d be surprised if he plays for Chelsea ever again.”
Chelsea went on to claw back all three goals in the second half to draw 3-3 — a display of fight and togetherness which Lampard said Alonso didn’t have.
Alonso was directly at fault for two of the goals conceded in the first half while blame for the other fell at the feet of new signing Thiago Silva who slipped.
