TECH3 and Yamaha have announced that the 2018 MotoGP season will be their last as partners.

Herve Poncharal’s team, which has run Yamahas since its premier-class debut in 2001, made clear it has secured a new partner for 2019 but did not specify the manufacturer.

“We’ve been offered a deal, that includes something we’ve been waiting for almost since we started with Tech3 and I couldn’t say no,” Poncharal said in a statement. “But obviously, we are the Monster Yamaha Team until the last lap of the Valencia GP 2018.”

F1 news 2020, Portuguese Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo, Renault, McLaren, Cyril Abiteboul, standings, next race

Renault boss Cyril Abiteboul as admitted the team reacted badly to Daniel Ricciardo’s decision to leave for McLaren next season and the team wouldn’t be where it is today if not for the Aussie.

Due to the delayed start to the season, which included the Australian Grand Prix cancelled on the eve of practice, Ricciardo was forced to make a decision on his future before he had even driven this year’s offering from Renault.

With Sebastian Vettel’s exit from Ferrari creating a domino effect, the Aussie switched to McLaren, who had outperformed the disappointing Renault in 2019.

Kyly Clarke new boyfriend, James Courtney, Bathurst 1000, Supercars, kissing, Michael Clarke

Kyly Clarke has moved on from former flame Michael, making her public debut with new boyfriend James Courtney at the Bathurst 1000 on Sunday.

The Supercars star finished 10th at Mount Panorama on the biggest day of Australia’s motorsport calendar and was supported at the circuit by Clarke, nee Boldy, who split up with former Australian cricket captain Michael after seven years of marriage.

Clarke and Courtney were reportedly spotted “kissing passionately” trackside on Thursday and Sunday’s outing confirmed they are officially an item — nearly two decades after first dating.

Courtney used to race at the same go-karting club as Clarke’s brother Troy when they were kids and the pair have known each other since she was 11.

Clarke is a longtime motorsports fan and was a V8 grid girl in her younger days, crowned Miss Indy in 1999.

Bathurst 1000: Shane van Gisbergen, rain, Mount Panorama, Scott McLaughlin

Published

on

Heavy rain that was expected to dominate Sunday’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 never came, but the few drops that did fall decided it.

Shane van Gisbergen and co-driver Garth Tander’s victory will be remembered for the Kiwi’s efforts to hold out a determined Cameron Waters over the final three stints of the 161-lap contest.

What won the race though were two sublime laps from van Gisbergen in slippery conditions following a lap 54 Safety Car restart that culminated in passing the Monster Mustang for the lead.
