Manchester United are among a range of Europe’s biggest clubs who are following Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to the Mirror.
The six foot four inch Serbian is rated at £80m (AU$142m), and was the subject of a United scouting trip this week. The trip was wasted however, as the 22-year-old was left on the bench as Lazio smashed Steaua Bucharest 5-1 in the Europa League.
Jose Mourinho is on the hunt for a midfielder to replace retiring legend Michael Carrick, with Marouane Fellaini set to depart for free in the summer.
The Special One has made a new central player his priority for the upcoming window, with Nice’s Jean Michael Seri also a reported target.
DE GEA’S CONTRACT POWERPLAY
United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly demanding an increase to a wage of £350,000 (AU$623,000) a week if he’s to stay at Old Trafford, after seeing players such as Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez sign deals that dwarf his own.
The Mirror report that the stopper is currently on £180,000 (AU$320,000) a week, while his Chilean teammate Sanchez is reportedly earning £505,000 (AU$899,000) a week.
De Gea is a long term Real Madrid target, with Los Blancos reportedly still keeping an eye on his situation at United.
The club are desperate to keep him, but the player wants a pay rise which represents hiS value if he’s to extend his stay.
RAMSEY’S ARSENAL DEMAND
Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey is threatening a contract standoff similar to that of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, in order to secure a significant wage increase.
According to The Times, the club fear that the Welshman will follow the Chilean’s example and run down his contract at The Emirates – and are eager to avoid another standoff.
The midfielder is out of contract at the end of next season, with negotiations already taking place over an extension. The 27-year-old currently earns £110,000 (AU$195,000) a week but wants a new contract worth more than that of new signings Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
ATLETICO STARS ON VERGE OF CHINA SWITCH
Fringe Atletico Madrid players Fernando Torres and Yannick Carrasco are on the verge of signing for Chinese club Dalian Yifang.
Carrasco‘s move is thought to be imminent, while Marca report that former Liverpool and Chelsea star Torres has a concrete offer on the table from the club.
The Spaniard is considering the offer, and could be tempted to move based on the lure of additional game time.
His time on the park has been limited since Diego Costa returned to Atletico, with the 33-year-old managing just two goals in 16 La Liga appearances this season.
PALACE ABOUT TO SIGN EX-LIVERPOOL KEEPER
Crystal Palace are close to completing a deal to sign free agent goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.
The 35-year-old has been training with Roy Hodgson’s side after being released by Brazilian outfit Fluminese and is in talks over a deal.
Wayne Hennnessey is Palace’s only fit senior goalkeeper after an injury to Julian Speroni with the manager keen to add to his stocks.
“He’s been very good,” Hodgson said of the player who he worked with during his time at Liverpool.
“He’s been with us just over a week now. He was released from his club, Fluminese in Brazil.”
“We got to find out about that, and invited him to come over to do some training with us to see how he was and how he likes us. I’m hoping we’ll reach an agreement with him.”
