PSG have confirmed that Neymar suffered a crack in his fifth metatarsal as well as an ankle sprain in an incident which saw him stretchered off in tears against Marseille.
The French champions didn’t announce a time frame for his return, with big doubts surrounding whether he’ll be fit to take on Real Madrid in their return Champions League leg in just over a weeks time.
“Follow-up exams performed today confirm a sprain in the right ankle, but also the associated presence of a crack of his fifth metatarsal,” PSG said in a statement.
The Brazilian forward shared a picture of his ankle in a protective brace to Instagram just a day after the injury,
Manager Unai Emery played down the injury after the match, stating ““If I had to pick my Real Madrid side now, I would say that Neymar could feature. The first look says it is a sprain. There will be further tests to be totally sure. We are optimistic.”
Emery has a regular news conference scheduled for late Tuesday (AEDT) in which he could provide a further update.
