Liverpool, Jordan Henderson social media post, Manchester City and Chelsea leave Super League, Bruno Fernandes, reaction
The proposed Super League is crumbling before our very eyes and a host of players from the top six Premier League clubs have a clear message: “We don’t want it.”
Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson had called an emergency meeting for all Premier League captains to discuss options following the breakaway league.
The English champions have teamed up with Premier League rivals Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal for the proposed 20-team competition.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan are the other founder members of the plan.
He then on Wednesday morning took to social media to post a defiant statement against the plan on behalf of all Liverpool players.
“We don’t like it and we don’t want it to happen. This is our collective position. Our commitment is to this football club and its supporters is absolute and unconditional. You’ll Never Walk Alone,” it read.

It comes after the family of Liverpool legend Bill Shankly told Sky News his statue should be removed if the Reds join the Super League.
Shankly had talked passionately about playing for the people of the city while building success at the club between 1959 and 1974.
“It flies in the face of everything my grandfather stood for,” Mr Carline told Sky News.
“You can’t have a statue that says ‘he made the people happy’ when this is the direct opposite of all that.”
Liverpool midfielder James Milner had also said on Monday he hopes a European Super League (ESL) does not happen despite his club being one of 12 teams to sign up to a breakaway.

Speaking after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at Leeds in the Premier League, Milner joined governments, governing bodies, fans and other players to criticise the proposals.
“There is a lot of questions. I can only say my personal opinion, I don’t like it and hopefully it doesn’t happen,” said Milner, who was Liverpool skipper for the fixture in the absence of the injured Henderson.
Meanwhile, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes shared a post from Wolves forward Daniel Podence which criticised the breakaway league.
Podence’s post read: “The ball. The song. The dream. The Zidane’s volley… Kaka’s solo… Liverpool in Athens… Ole in Barcelona… Cris and Seedorf… There some (sic) things we just can’t really pay for.”
In response to the post, Fernandes replied: “Enorme (enormous).”
He later also shared a post on his Instagram story with the caption: “Dreams can’t be [bought],” accompanied by clapping emojis.
Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling simply tweeted: “Ok bye” with a waving emoji.
